My blog site is really a way for me to work through my thoughts on having a baby with Downsyndrome. Through various situations, and observations, Im able to work through my faith, and my life with a child with DS. My blog is about Embracing the Journey:) I pray that through my honesty, and faith that someone will say, Im not alone, others feel the same way:) Thanks

Thank-you for this priceless support website. I would love to share my family’s journey with out precious son, Jonathan. He was born on March 4, 2009 with Down syndrome and transient leukemia, which ultimately required chemotherapy. He has had quite an amazing life and has brought me closer to God with every passing day. I love him so much – he is an incredible blessing.

Though my blog is intended to keep those who are interested updated in the happenings of both of my children, I do post more about my little fella with the extra chromosome with the hope that if someone else is experiencing the same thing, they will glean something from our blog. Plus, I love posting anything that celebrates individuals with Down syndrome!

would love to share out story on here as well. we have a 16 month old, henry, who is amazing in every way. i started my blog to keep in touch with family/friends back “home,” but have met so many people through it. nothing makes me feel better than when someone reads about a particular moment in henry’s life, and then tells me, “after reading your post, i’ve realized i’m not alone.” there are so many twist and turns with raising a child with down syndrome that it’s nice to be able to reach out to others and vice versa through words. love the book gifts and can’t wait for the second!

I created this blog for Colin as a therapeutic way for me to share Colin’s ups and downs with friends and family. Colin was diagnosed with Down Syndrome shortly after birth and is a little over 2 months old now. In the short time since he has been on Earth, he has touched our lives and has taught us so many things including unconditional love and patience. For me one of the things I sought out in the beginning was other people who “understood” the boat my family was in…and now, I would love to share our story with others….because Colin is truly our blessing.

The last six years I have been very priviledged to photograph the most beautiful children with a little extra. This blog will be my “project 365″ where I will post daily or every other day my favorite pictures.
Please feel free to add this blog to your list of personal blogs – thank you so much in advance!

I have 3 year old identical twins with Down Syndrome and they have been such a blessing to me and my family they have encouraged me to start up a support group in my area and through my searching for local things to do I stumbled upon my local Arc group and I have recently become their new Executive Director. My first mission is to get your book distributed to new parents in the area. I wished I would have had someone just hand me this book when I needed it the most. Thank you so much for such a wonderful book.

THere is one that I do for my parents of children with special needs. I did a couple of videos to help them with some training. I also put lots of resources for those special parents. Feel free to include if it fits.

A poem for Maisie
I will never forget the day after your birth,
When doctors muttered the words that brought me crashing down to earth.
Down Syndrome Down Syndrome was all i could hear,
And suddenly my body became gripped with fear.
How would i cope?
What would i do?
For most other babies were much different from you.
As i watch you learn to do things that they said you would never do,
I feel my heart grow bigger as your determination shines through,
You have changed my life completely,
And taught me as you grow,
That just because your different,
I love you more than you know.

We just received a prenatal diagnosis for Down syndrome for our son that is due in May. I’m not sure if you only post blogs that actually have a baby or child with DS but we are looking forward to meeting our son and are preparing for the challenges that may come with him.

I have three little ones. My youngest is 8 months old and has Down syndrome. I just started a blog about our life and wanted to share it. Thanks for Gifts, I read it cover to cover just after Bryce was born.

This is an amazing site for an amazing book! I read this book a few days after my son Nathan was born and it totally rocked my world. I’m afraid I’m a bit snobbish now about my son…feeling like I’m better than everyone else who only has ‘typical’ children! I feel priveledge, honored and grateful…oh so grateful for Nate’s life and his place in my family. I wouldn’t have him any other way.

My daughter with DS was born 2 years ago and has been the most amazing inspiration to everyone. I am an advocate for our local hopsital/clinic. I got the axillary to purchase the book GIFTS for families with the prenatal and postnatal diagnosis of DS–yeah! Thanks to all of the mommy’s that have shared and inspired us all.

I didn’t realize this site was up!! Where have I been? LOL Thanks for all that you are doing and I give “Gifts” to new parents and it gives me such peace to know that it will help them on their journey.
October 15th, 2008 at 12:52 pm
A number of people had found my blog and mentioned they found me through the “Gifts” site.I thought they were referring to the link I have to the book on my site but lo and behold …no this is what they were talking about!Someone had obviously had a link on their entry and one thing or another led them to me.I had no idea!I so wish I had known about this site.At a time when Zoey was riddled with one medical condition after another, finding others traveling the same road, would have meant the world to me.Well,I know your here now and I would be honored if you could add Zoey and our family to this incredible site.My hope has always been that one day a new mom,a new family, would find their way to us and we could do something, say something or just lend an ear to what feels to them, to be such an overwhelming time of uncertainty. Thanks again for what you do here. There is no price tag to this … it simply is a gift.

Our life has been full of miracles ever since Matthew arrived. Doctors originally thought he may not even live to be born due to severe heart defects, among other problems. If he survived pregnancy, we were told, he would probably only live a few hours, maybe a few days. We took him home on Hospice. But, instead of getting sick and weak, he got stronger. By 6 months of age, his heart miraculously had grown and developed enough for surgery, which was done when he was 8 months old. We just celebrated his first birthday – a day we never thought we’d see. He is a healthy, happy, beautiful boy who fills our home with joy and laughter. He has been such an incredible blessing to our family!
His success story, along with our journey through two surgeries, is on our blog at babymatthew.wordpress.com. We feel like his story is meant to be shared, and would be honored if it were included on your website.

I would be honored if my blog could be added to this list. My name is Laurie and I have a 2 month old son, Dylan, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome shortly after his birth. He will be undergoing open heart surgery in October. I received the book “Gifts” about a week after his birth and have been enjoying it ever since.
Dylan is an absolute blessing!
Thank you,
Laurie

I’m the mother of 6 children, my youngest of whom is 8 weeks old and has DS. I started my blog as a way to keep family and friends updated about him, as he had surgery the day after he was born and spent 2 weeks in the NICU. The blog has since then become a form of therapy for me, and has sort of taken on a life of its own. I’d love to see it added to your blog list here: http://finniansjourney.blogspot.com
Thank you!

I didn’t even know about this area until someone posted on my blog asking why I wasn’t here LOL. I have 3 children with Ds (5,2.5,and almost 2), 2 of them adopted recently from Ukraine, and another typical little guy too. re still waiting to come home. My oldest, Emma, just went through a “miracle surgery” as we were told it shouldn’t be performed and now she is home just 5 days after this high risk open heart surgery. My blog is about raising my kids, most of whom have Ds, and advocating for those around the world that are still waiting to find “home”.

We’re newcomers, but I’d love for more people to see our blog. One of my sisters had a baby with Down syndrome about 5 years ago. Another sister just found out her 6 month old has down syndrome, and I found out my boy, due in October, has it, too. So, we started a joint blog.

I am looking forward to reading this book. I have no idea how to get ahold of it. I’d love to talk to someone who’s experienced what I am. I’m 23 and my youngest son of three which is three yrs old has DS. I’m very visually impaired and being so, no one really wants much to do with us. I’d love for someone to contact me. Thanks for putting such a helpful site out here for people like me who are whoefully unconnected.
